Facilities

The school has two double teaching rooms, an Intervention room, a well equipped resource centre, staffroom and administration office, tuckshop, various storerooms and two under cover play areas.

The resource centre, staffroom, administration office and two double teaching classroom have been air-conditioned through the Governments Cool Schools Program. The school has two under cover adventure playgrounds, netball court, soccer field and forestry plot.

The school includes large oval areas surrounded by substantial shade areas and includes a rainforest plot. Buildings have been improved over the last four years - external and internal painting, re-roofing, air-conditioning and both minor and major maintenance.

Last year our school was given approval for $92,000 under the INVESTING FOR OUR SCHOOLS grant. This money will be spent in 2008 to provide additional tuckshop facilities, an outdoor learning area, large storage shed and interactive ICT resources.

South Johnstone has excellent facilities.

The Library

The library is located upstairs and in between the staff room and the rainbow room. The library contains lots of story books for the younger children, chapter books for the older children and information books so we can learn about the real world.

The Music Room

The music room is where the students of South Johnstone State School go for their music lesson. The students have two types of music lessons, a vocal music lesson run by Mrs Madeleine Torrisi, and the instrumental music lessons are run by Mr Grant Johannsen and Mrs Anikta Berry.

The Office

The office is a very complex place. It has three computers, one server and lots of cupboards. The office is the main part of the school. Miss Savage works here 3 days each week.

The Upstairs Classroom

The upstairs classroom is where the Senior students have their LOTE lessons. It has a computer area with 12 computers and printers. We work here on different computer activities. When we work here everyone is able to work on a computer each.

The Toilets

The toilets are under the undercover area towards the back of the school. There are girls and boys toilets.

The Downstairs Classroom

We work in the downstairs classroom mostly with our teacher and teacher aides. Our class has Prep - Yr 7 and we all work together on our own work. It is a bright, colourful and busy room. Everyone gets along and we all respect each other's right.

The Eating Area
Everyone eats here and plays here.
